Las Posadas Housing Rehabilitation - Livermore Year Originally Built: 1960's Sq. Feet of Building: 11,000sf Owner: Allied Housing Contractor: NCR Construction Construction Cost: $590,000 Rehabilitating this dilapidated 9 unit apartment building for low income families in Livermore required more than just technical solutions. Working in association with architect Gita Dev, a number of concepts were implemented to make the building more livable and to provide a sense of place for the residents. Private courtyards were provided at each unit and included trellises at the front. Outdoor seating areas were installed at the rear yard and front yard. Trash enclosures were built and landscaping improved. A children's play area was carved out of the parking lot area. The entire facility was painted, outdoor decks redone, a new roof installed and the laundry room redone. Inside the 3 bedroom units, new kitchen cabinets were built. Bathroom water damage was repaired, cabinetry reconfigured and ventilation improved. The cities of Livermore and Pleasanton provided financial support to the development in the form of HOME funds and CDBG grants.
