Pierce Street Remodel and Addition - San Francisco Year Originally Built: Pre-1900 Sq. Feet of Building: 3,613sf Contractor: Crociani Construction This pre-1900 Victorian house was significantly enlarged in its size with a vertical addition of a third floor for a new master suite and a horizontal addition to the first and ground floors for expansion of living areas. Although the interior space was substantially enlarged, the streetfront elevation was mostly unchanged except for the vertical addition which was setback. Roof heights were maintained at the front and only a minor increase made at the rear. The only other alterations at the front were the reopening of the existing entry porch and replacing the existing stair. The home was designed to accommodate use of a young, growing family. The kitchen and bathrooms were remodeled. The owner was interested in saving existing interior finishes as much as possible such as ornamental plaster walls and molding, window and door trim, and wood wainscot. The work included a full seismic upgrade, new electrical and mechanical systems.
